A little about me...
I come from a large family. As one of the older siblings, I was surrounded by little ones from a young age. Early on I had a deep appreciation for and fascination with pregnancy and how our family adapted to welcome a new life. I saw the ways my dad gave my mom special care, and how other family and friends came together to soften the transition of our growing household. The atmosphere of home and the intricate web of relationships in it were important… It was our “happy chaos.”

Then I grew up! - as we all do. My husband and I had an unexpectedly long road to starting our own family. We eventually welcomed two amazing sons (now ages 11 and 14) into our lives. My birth journey blew my mind and brought new respect for how each of us comes to be. I was fortunate to receive amazing care prenatally and lots of love and help postpartum but was still surprised by the emotions and uncertainties that flooded in. It was a time to be vulnerable, to celebrate, to mess up, to try again, to discover how I wanted to be a mother and who this new baby human in my care was… Taking time to talk things out with others who had been through it (whether weeks or decades ahead of me) gave me doses of reassurance.

I feel some of our greatest strength and beauty as women is seen in the intensity of birth and in the emotional and spiritual journey of motherhood; it's so much more than what's portrayed on TV. The role of a parent is so very significant... It's an incredibly special time to witness. Taking time to tend to the emotional and relational side of becoming a parent is so worthwhile. I want to nurture a reassuring space where women lean into their instincts and explore newfound trust in their bodies, and partners feel comfortable giving active support. I want to be part of better, more compassionate care because wellness in families extends beyond the walls of our homes and into our communities. Every family could benefit from more attention during such a sacred season.

What makes for a positive, respected birth experience is unique to each woman. What does that look like for you? I'd love to hear your story. Reach out if you'd like to schedule a consultation.

(Some personal tidbits... For me, life’s most delightful gifts are its simplest – meaningful conversations, sitting in the grass or hiking on a sunny-cool day, exploring the wonders of nature, delicious food *I’ll take a chopped brisket sandwich followed by ice cream*, laughter with family and friends, travel, and dancing).
